Saint Lu (born June 27, 1984 in Wels ; actually Luise Gruber ) is an Austrian singer-songwriter . She describes her style as soul 'n' roll .

Life

After graduating from high school, Gruber went to Austin , Texas as an au pair for a year and a half, and then lived in New York City for six months . She then returned to Austria, where she attended a state drama school.

Career

music

In 2003/2004, Saint Lu was part of the 2nd Starmania season under its own name and was eliminated as 10th of a total of 12 finalists.

She has lived in Berlin since 2009, where she was signed by Warner Music . In 2009 she took part in the Reeperbahn Festival and the New Pop Festival . In early November of the same year she released her first single Don't Miss Your Own Life from her debut album Saint Lu , which was produced by Echo Prize winner Patrik Majer . Parts of this album were recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.

In 2011 they were awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA). In addition to several tours of her own, she appeared in the opening act for Gary Clark Jr. , Amy Macdonald and Slash and sang a duet with Jason Mraz . She wrote with Linda Perry , Stefan Skarbek and Tim Baxter and composed the soundtrack for the documentary Fourteen - Adults in 9 Months , which premiered at the 2012 Berlinale .

In early 2013 she released her second studio album 2 . Parts of the album were recorded at Angel Studios in London. Saint Lu took part with the title Craving in the German preliminary decision 2013 for the Eurovision Song Contest in Hanover and took 4th place. Appearances on Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten and TV Total followed .

Moderation

In 2013, Saint Lu hosted the top 100 annual charts at VIVA.

reception

Saint Lu was praised by the critics as "an album that doesn't need to shy away from international comparison" and she herself referred to as a "Miss Miracle" because of her voice.
