Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci

Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci (born May 16, 1966 in Bauru ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Nova Friburgo .

Life

Luiz Antônio Lopes Ricci studied at the Provincial Seminary and the Theological Institute Rainha dos Apóstolos in Marília . On July 10, 1997, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Bauru . After further studies at the Pontifical Academy Alphonsian in Rome from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2004 until he first acquired the licentiate in moral theology and was in this subject to Dr. theol. PhD .

He was sub- rain and then rain of the Provincial Seminary in Marília. He was a professor and, since 2016, director of the theological faculty João Paulo II of the ecclesiastical province of Botucatu , based in Marília. In the diocese of Bauru he was, among other things, spiritual assistant for marriage preparation, coordinated pastoral care at the diocesan level, was temporarily vicar general and was a member of the priestly council and the college of consultors. Since 2008 he has also been pastor of the parish of São Cristóvão in Bauru.

On 10 May 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Tyndaris and auxiliary bishop in Niterói . The bishop of Bauru, Caetano Ferrari OFM , donated his episcopal ordination on July 16 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Campo Limpo , Luiz Antônio Guedes , and the Archbishop of Niterói, José Francisco Rezende Dias .

On May 6, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Nova Friburgo. The inauguration took place on July 4th of the same year.
