Luka Buntić (born March 7, 1993 ) is a Croatian - German basketball player . Buntić, whose parents Robert and Petrana Buntić were also successful basketball players, played in Trier from 2011, where he was already active in individual games for the TBB in the top German division. For the 2014/15 season, Buntić moved to the first division club EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he was used with a double license mainly in the farm team BAWE OTB in the third-highest division ProB . His brother Ivan Buntić, who is over a year and a half older, has been playing for various clubs in the ProA second division since 2010 .

Career

Buntić grew up in Saarland after his parents settled there after their active careers. His father Robert, who was first-class for KK Zagreb in his home country and in the 2nd basketball league for TSV Speyer , had found a job in Geislautern and, like his wife, later also worked as a basketball coach for the fourth division Baskets 98, among others from Völklingen . While Luka initially trained under the aegis of his father in Völklingen, he moved to Trier in 2011 , where his brother Ivan had already played in the youth team in the youth basketball league (NBBL) in the 2009/10 season . In Trier, Luka played in addition to the NBBL in the men's regional league for the DJK / MJC, with which the then professional club TBB cooperated in the youth and amateur area. There was also a “brother duel” in the 2012/13 season after brother Ivan wanted to complete his training in his home town of Völklingen after a year in Luxembourg.

After Luka Buntić had his first two short appearances in the top German division in the basketball league 2012/13 by means of a double license , he only made two other short appearances under coach Henrik Rödl in the 2013/14 season . Finally, Buntić moved to Northern Germany for the 2014/15 season to the first division competitor EWE Baskets in Oldenburg . Here, however, by means of a double license, he was used exclusively for the farm team BasketballAkademie Weser-Ems Oldenburger Turnerbund (BAWE OTB) in the third-highest division ProB . In the ProB 2014/15 , the reserve team, consisting mainly of young players, was able to defend the championship title of this division, but again renounced a possible promotion to the second-highest division. Buntić rose to the ProA by switching to ETB Essen . There he played under coach Igor Križanović , who had started his coaching career like Mladen Drijenčić in Krefeld.

For the 2016/17 season, Buntić moved to ProB league team Rostock Seawolves , before returning to Trier in summer 2017 and joining the Gladiators (ProA). In 2019, his contract in Trier was not extended, he switched to the Luxembourg first division club Musel Pikes .
