Ivan Buntić (born October 8, 1991 ) is a Croatian - German basketball player . Buntić, whose parents Robert and Petrana Buntić were also successful basketball players, has been playing for various clubs in the second-highest German men's division ProA since 2010 , interrupted by a season in Luxembourg and at his home club from Völklingen in Saarland . His brother Luka Buntić , who is two years younger than him, has already completed individual appearances in the top division basketball league for the clubs TBB Trier and EWE Baskets Oldenburg .

Career

Buntić grew up in Saarland after his parents settled there after their active careers. His father Robert, who was first-class for KK Zagreb in his home country and in the 2nd basketball league for TSV Speyer , had found a job in Geislautern and, like his wife, later also worked as a basketball coach for the fourth division Baskets 98, among others from Völklingen . While Ivan initially trained under the aegis of his father, at the age of 18 he strengthened the youth team of the first division club TBB Trier in the youth basketball league (NBBL). By means of a double license , he came to his first three appearances at the end of the ProA 2009/10 with the Saar-Pfalz Braves from Homburg an der Saar, who was trained by his compatriot Nenad Josipović , in the second highest German men's division. At the end of the season, the Braves only missed a position in third place that would have entitled them to promotion. In the ProA 2010/11 , in which Buntić had another five short appearances with the Braves in the ProA, the Saarlanders were in fifth place at the end of the season, again in the top third of the table.

After Buntić's development with the Braves had stagnated in the 2010/11 season, he moved to the Luxembourg league for the 2011/12 season to the old master BBC Amicale from Steinsel . The club fell back in the final round from third place in the main round to fifth place and thus missed the play-offs for the championship. Then Buntić returned to his parent club Baskets 98 to Völklingen, with whom he played in the fourth-class regional league in the 2012/13 season . In the ProA 2013/14 Buntić made a new attempt in the second highest division, where he got a new chance under the Serbian-born Branislav Ignjatović after an injury break. In Kirchheim he was used regularly, but hardly more than an average of six minutes per game. After a weak pre-season, the Kirchheimers were able to place themselves back in tenth place in the middle of the table with a balanced season balance, but missed the play-offs for promotion. For the following season ProA 2014/15 Buntić moved to table neighbors finke baskets in Paderborn . At the former first division club, he was able to almost double his average game shares and came up with over eleven minutes of playing time per game. The Paderborn team were only able to secure the league they had achieved through an objection to a game rating.
