Lukas Kruse (born July 9, 1983 in Paderborn ) is a German football goalkeeper .

Career

Kruse began playing football at TSV Tudorf , a district club from Salzkotten , and later played for Rot-Weiß Alfen , a district club from the Borchen municipality in the Paderborn district . From 1995 to 2001 he was active in the youth department of SC Paderborn 07 .

In 2001 he was promoted to the Paderborn regional league team and played his first senior game on April 20, 2002 (30th matchday) in a 3-2 home win against SG Wattenscheid 09 . After four seasons in the Regionalliga Nord , he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2005 with the team as second in the table .

Originally only a substitute goalkeeper, he was temporarily the first goalkeeper in the 2005/06 second division season due to an injury-related loss of Stephan Loboué . Kruse, however, moved back to the reserve bench after Tom Starke signed on during the winter break. He made his second division debut on September 18, 2005 (5th matchday) in the 0-2 defeat in the away game against Hansa Rostock .

In the 2006/07 season he was still only a substitute behind Starke. After Tom Starke moved to MSV Duisburg , Alexander Bade was signed as the new number one. As a result, Kruse remained a substitute goalkeeper. But he was able to show good performances in the second main round of the DFB Cup against champions VfB Stuttgart , as well as in three other league games, due to a dismissal of the goalkeeper Alexander Bade. After moving from Bade to Borussia Dortmund during the winter break, Kruse was the goalkeeper for the second half of the 2007/08 season , also under the new coach Pavel Dotchev .

For the 2008/09 season, Kruse, like Alexander Bade before, moved to Borussia Dortmund . There he was the third goalkeeper behind Roman Weidenfeller and Marc Ziegler and played mainly in the regional league team. At the end of the winter break he moved to the second division club FC Augsburg , for whom he played four times in two seasons. For the 2010/11 season he returned to Paderborn and remained a substitute goalkeeper until Daniel Masuch changed clubs on July 1, 2011. In the following seasons he was a regular goalkeeper and helped his team to their first promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of the 2013/14 season , in which he was on August 24, 2014 (1st matchday), in a 2-2 home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 , made its debut. As a regular goalkeeper, he was relegated with SC Paderborn three times in a row from the Bundesliga to the Regionalliga West . In the 2017/18 season Kruse played for the second division Holstein Kiel , but was unable to prevail against the goalkeeper Kenneth Kronholm and left the club after a year.

After his departure, Kruse was without a club until he was signed by Eintracht Braunschweig in October 2018 . There he immediately acted as a regular goalkeeper until he was injured after eight games and 17 goals conceded in the game against Halleschen FC and after the return of Jasmin Fejzić during the winter break he no longer played a role in the squad planning.
