Lukas Prantl

Lukas Prantl (born March 20, 1968 in Meran , South Tyrol ) is a South Tyrolean doctor and director of the University Center for Plastic, Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Regensburg .

Prantl graduated from high school in 1986 at the Josef Ferrari Grammar School in Merano. From 1988 to 1994 he studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck . In 1994 he received his doctorate with distinction and received his license to practice medicine in Bologna on November 24, 1994. He then obtained his specialist degree in surgery at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich (2000) and then in plastic and aesthetic surgery at the University Hospital Regensburg (2004) , as well as the additional designation for hand surgery (2008). In addition, he acquired the European specialist qualifications (EBOPRAS and FESSH). In 2007 he completed his habilitation at the medical faculty of the University of Regensburg . In 2009 he was a visiting professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston , University of Texas.

In 2010 he was appointed Professor and Academic Director of the University Center for Plastic and Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery in Regensburg. Prof. Prantl was offered a professorship for plastic surgery in Leipzig and Vienna. In 2019 he obtained the Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Chair of Health Management.

He is President of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRÄC) and the German Society for Clinical Microcirculation and Hemorheology (DGKMH). In addition to the presidencies, he holds numerous other offices and is editor of the internationally renowned journal "Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation". Among other things, he researches tissue perfusion, the possible uses of adipose tissue and adipose tissue stem cells for tissue renewal and human attractiveness.
