The family is first mentioned in a document in 1231 with Henricus de Lumarins. Various representatives of the family served as judges, abbots, bailiffs and ministerials. Today the coat of arms is the community coat of arms of Lumbrein . The later coat of arms of the Lumerins shows a green wave pole with a silver fish on a blue background.

The de Lumerins family had claims to the Chisti residential tower on the outskirts of Lumbrein (built in 1316), the Rietberg and Baldenstein palaces in Domleschg and the Löwenberg estate .
