history
Lundby IF was founded in 1919 in the Gothenburg district of Lundby on the island of Hisingen . When the official league pyramid was introduced for the 1928/29 season, the club was divided into the fourth division, from which the team rose in the first year as a season winner in the third division. In the mid-1930s, the club established itself in the promotion race to the second division. In 1936, the team moved into the promotion round as the season winner of Division 3 Västsvenska Södra , but failed there because of Tidaholms GIF . Four years later, she repeated the season win, this time you prevailed against Kinna IF in the promotion games.
After a sixth place in the first year in Division 2 Västra , Lundby IF was the season winner in the west ahead of Tidaholms GIF and local rival Örgryte IS . In the promotion games, the club missed promotion to the Allsvenskan after a 1-1 draw with a 2-1 away defeat at Halmstads BK . The success could not be confirmed, the team slipped into the lower part of the table. In 1946 she reported back briefly in the promotion race, but in the following year you were the sixth victim of a league reform and after seven seasons had to relegate to the second level in the third division.
1950 followed for Lundby IF the crash into the fourth division, which was later followed by the move to the fifth division. After several years in the lower league area, the team established itself around 1980 in the fourth division in the front table area. In 1982 they were promoted to the third division, in which they held up to a league reform in 1986. After eight years in the fourth level, the club reported back in 1994 as a season winner ahead of local rivals Qviding FIF and IFK Trollhättan in the third division. Together with co-promoted Qviding FIF, the club knew how to surprise in the new league and won the season in front of the Gothenburg club and Holmalunds IF and returned to the second division.
In the relegation battle in the second division, Lundby IF missed a relegation place with two points behind the tied Motala AIF , Åtvidabergs FF and Falkenbergs FF , who occupied the relegation place, and had to relegate directly with GAIS and Kalmar FF . Before Trollhättans FK and GAIS, the club took first place and returned directly to the second division, where the club again occupied a relegation place and relegated with Norrby IF , IFK Hässleholm and IS Halmia .
Then Lundby IF crashed into the fifth division, but managed to get promoted back to the fourth division in 2003. 2005 succeeded in Division 3 Norvästra Götaland behind Lärje-Angereds IF the runner-up. Due to financial problems, the club withdrew from the game operations in the course of the following season and filed for bankruptcy. Subsequently, a successor club was founded with the Lundby IF 06 .
