Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen (born March 10, 1962 in West Berlin ) is a German musicologist, composer and music producer.

Career

Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen grew up in West Berlin. His older brother is the musician Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen . Although his parents themselves had no special relationship with music, they supported the inclinations of the two brothers, who focused on pop and rock music from an early age. Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen started learning instruments at an early age and received music lessons at the Berlin University of the Arts at the age of twelve .

He started his musical career as a student of Carlo Domeniconi at the age of 14 in professional rock and jazz bands. During his time as an international session and touring musician, he learned the sound engineering trade and produced his first compositions for CBS / April-Music and Francis-Day And Hunter Music Publishing ( EMI ).

After graduating from high school in 1980, he studied musicology and philosophy and worked at the same time as a touring and studio musician, among others with Herwig Mitteregger (Spliff), Alex Conti (Lake) and his brother, who was a keyboardist and composer for Nena .

After 2002, he began again to study at the university, namely in political and social sciences and sociology of technology, and earned a doctorate. He helped set up the Popular Music Research Center at Berlin's Humboldt University, of which he was Managing Director from 2004 to 2018.

Lutz Fahrenkrog-Petersen runs his own production studios, including a. in the Hansa Tonstudios Berlin.
