Viola Lynn Collins (born May 16, 1977 in Texas ) is an American actress .

life and career

Lynn Collins attended Juilliard School , after which she appeared in several plays by William Shakespeare at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles . After appearing on an episode of the 1999 television series Law & Order: New York , she played a supporting role in the 2001 television drama Earth Angels . In the television comedy One for the Money (2002) she played one of the bigger roles. In the film drama The Merchant of Venice (2004) based on a play by Shakespeare, she starred in the role of Portia alongside Al Pacino , Jeremy Irons andSee Joseph Fiennes . For this role she was nominated for the 2005 Golden Satellite Award .

In the horror film Bug (2006), Collins plays the role of RC , the work colleague and lesbian lover of Agnes ( Ashley Judd ). In the thriller Number 23 , she played some roles alongside Jim Carrey .

In March 2008 it was announced that Collins had married fellow actor Steven Strait, who was nine years his junior . The divorce followed in 2013. She has been married to the musician Matthew Boyle since November 2014 . Their son was born in January 2015.
