action

The veterinarian Henry Roth lives in the US state of Hawaii , where he regularly hooks up with tourists and uses all kinds of tricks to avoid long-term relationships. This goes well until he falls in love with the local Lucy Whitmore. However, Lucy suffers from amnesia due to an accident and forgets the previous day every night. Her father and brother care for her, faking a day for her each day that follows the last day she can remember.

Henry recruits Lucy every day. One day she gets a ticket because her car's registration expired months ago. First she is convinced that it was a mistake, then she learns the truth. After she calms down, she spends a pleasant day with Henry.

Henry prepares a video cassette for Lucy that explains the background to her accident. Lucy keeps a diary which she reads every day. Henry proposes to her, which she accepts - the next day she can't remember anything.

Lucy comes to the conclusion that Henry - who dreams of a research trip - leads an unfulfilled life. She breaks up with him and rewrites her diary. After a while, Henry and Lucy realize that he has become the man of their dreams, whom she keeps painting in her pictures. They get married. In the end, Lucy wakes up on a research ship and watches the video cassette, which reminds of the accident, their hours together with Henry and the wedding of the two. Henry introduces her - again - to her daughter.

Reviews

The plot was criticized as "too simplistic" in one of the reviews, but another described it as "imaginative". Some of the secondary characters in the plot were heavily criticized, such as Ula, a friend of Roth's. On the other hand, Sean Astin and Blake Clark, who played Lucy's brother and father, were praised. The main actors also found recognition.

James Berardinelli described the script on ReelViews as "far from watertight", elsewhere as "idiotic". The film is more of a romantic comedy than a typical comedy with Adam Sandler.

The Lexicon of International Film wrote: “Over-the-top comedy that never explores the tragic implications of the plot. Any approach to romance also suffocates in uninspired bonds in massive action adventures and many flat jokes. "
