history

The Lyon Hockey Club was founded in 1997 as the successor club of the Club des patineurs lyonnais and was included in the top division, today's Ligue Magnus , for the 1997/98 season . After three seasons in which the league was won in the highest league by sporting means, the relegation to the fourth division, Division 3 , followed in September 2000 due to financial difficulties . After one season, the team was promoted to Division 2 . After two more years, he joined Division 1 . After losing the Barrage games in the 2005/06 season against Bordeaux Gironde Hockey 2000 , the team rose again to the third highest division. In the following years, the team regularly occupied top places in Division 2. After being promoted to Division 1 in 2011 , they were promoted to Ligue Magnus in 2014, where the team has played since then.

Furthermore, the club took in 1998 and 1999 to the sweeps of the IIHF Continental Cup in part. The team had a record of two wins and one draw in their first participation, but missed the second round due to the worse goal difference compared to the Norwegian representative Frisk Tigers .

In the following year, the team prevailed in a group with three wins against HK Keramin Minsk , CG Puigcerdà and Boretti Tigers Amsterdam . In the second round, the team was eliminated from the competition after three defeats.
