The Másin [ ˈmɔasɪn ] ( fär . Mási = " herring gull ") was a small passenger ferry with a wooden hull that operated as a mail ship between Hvannasund and the islands of Svínoy and Fugloy in the Faroe Islands . It has now been replaced on this route by the Ritan passenger ferry .

The ship was built in 1959 at the Tórshavner shipyard. It belonged to the state shipping company Strandfaraskip Landsins and was sold by them in 2010. Initially it was supposed to be used for tourist purposes, but it sank in the port of Klaksvík . Despite promises by an association, it was not rebuilt and finally scrapped in August 2012. The ship, measured at just under 39 GRT, could carry a maximum of 65 passengers. It was used on the route from Klaksvík to the North Islands , but in 1967-72 it also drove the route to Sandoy . Until the helicopter service was introduced in 1984, the Másin was the only means of public transport for the residents of Svínoy and Fugloy.
