The half-timbered church on the outskirts

The village of Mönchhosbach has been part of the municipality of Nentershausen in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in Hesse since December 31, 1971 . The place, the smallest district by population, is located northwest of the main town on the Richelsdorf Mountains and is surrounded by forest.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1260. The first church was built in the 12th century. The small town belonged to the nuns' monastery Bubenbach or Cornberg until the Reformation and was therefore sometimes referred to as Frauenhosbach. Steinhosbach is also mentioned as a name in a document. After the abolition of the Cornberg monastery with the introduction of the Reformation in the Landgraviate of Hesse , Mönchhosbach, in which there were only eight households in 1538, was assigned to the Hessian court of Rockensüß and the Office of Sontra .

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent town of Mönchhosbach was incorporated into the Nentershausen community.

Others

Today's village church has been rebuilt and expanded several times and is one of the most beautiful half-timbered churches in the entire district.
