Mörz is a district of Münstermaifeld in the district of Mayen-Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until December 31, 1975 Mörz was an independent municipality.

Mörz is a place east of Münstermaifeld on the Maifeld .

history

Mörz was first mentioned in writing in 1140 in the “Maximiner Urbar” as “Muderce”.

Around the year 1200 the imperial abbey of St. Maximin in Trier already owned property in Mörz. The abbey's property, including a spacious courtyard, was auctioned off in 1812 during the secularization of the Napoleonic era.

After belonging to the Electorate of Trier and from 1796 to France , Mörz fell to Prussia in 1815 .

On December 31, 1975 Mörz - together with four other communities - was incorporated into Münstermaifeld.

The district of Mörz is one of five local districts that were formed by the main statute in Münstermaifeld. The election of a local advisory board is not planned.

Andrej Kühn was 2019 mayor of Mörz. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with 54.41% of the vote. Kühn is the successor to Achim Weendung.

Culture and sights

Both in the town itself and in the surrounding area, there are some individual cultural monuments, including three of the historic mills in the Shrump Valley, about a kilometer away.

Economy and Infrastructure

Mörz is connected to the main town of Münstermaifeld, two kilometers to the west, via a county road. There the K42 joins the state road L82. The road network continues to fan out in the opposite direction. The K42 leads in a north-easterly direction via Moselsürsch back to L82, while the branching K43 runs east to Kattenes and the K41 finally runs to the southeast located Löf .
