history

Several excavations around today's village point to the old age of Mühlhausen. The name of the place refers to a mill on the Pleichach , around which several farms were built. The mill continued to be the center of the village in the Middle Ages. As a condominium, the village was subordinate to several gentlemen. In 1285 the abbot of Ebrach Monastery, Winrich , acquired some possessions in the place from the Schenk von Weiltingen.

On August 2, 1330, the Cistercian monastery received further slopes when the widow of Wiprecht von Grumbach gave up all claims to the mill. In 1386 a contract was signed between the Ebrach abbot Peter I and the Würzburg canon Konrad Schenk von Ebrach. The village lords, the monastery and the Würzburg bishopric took turns holding court. In 1548 the two legal relationships were laid down in a village regulation.

A court ruling of September 16, 1401 names inheritance disputes over the Mühlhausen mill. Hans and Claus Müller von Mühlhausen and Fritz Oringer von Kürnach fought over the possessions in the village. In 1548 Jörg Appelmann held the post in the Ebracher Mühle. In the 16th century there were still disputes between the village of Oberpleichfeld and the Ebrach monastery because the Ebrach miller had made some changes to the stream. Abbot Leonhard Rosen was finally able to settle the dispute.

In 1714 a private citizen received the mill for the first time. The new feudal bearer was the Würzburg barber Max Grebner, but a third remained with the Ebrachian mayor. In 1723 the village received a new church with the Church of St. George, the previous building was from the 17th century. After the battle of Würzburg (1796) the place was burned down by French revolutionary troops. The Hochstift and the associated place were secularized in 1803 in favor of Bavaria, then in the Peace of Preßburg (1805) Archduke Ferdinand III. left by Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814. In 1818 was awarded the Bavarian Gemeindeedikt the municipality Mulhouse founded. On May 1, 1978 this was incorporated into Estenfeld at its own request.

Wayside shrine in Mühlhausen

The center of the village is the Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Georg. It was built in its current form in 1723 and presents itself as a hall with a retracted choir . A roof turret was placed on the east side of the church . A small group of Mounts of Olives was built next to the church . A typical Franconian courtyard gate from 1771 can be found in the immediate vicinity of the Georgskirche. It consists of a pedestrian gate and was built with pillars and spherical attachments.

The old mill has also been preserved in the village. It is a two-story hipped roof building with drilled frames from the end of the 18th century. Several barns and outbuildings are grouped around the main building. There are also several wayside shrines and small memorials in the village and the surrounding area . They come from different centuries and mostly go back to private foundations.
