Mündling is a parish village and district of the city of Harburg (Swabia) in the district of Donau-Ries in the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria .

On July 1, 1972, Harburg and its districts were added to the Nördlingen-Donauwörth district, which has been called Donau-Ries district since May 1, 1973 .

History

Origin of name

There is no reliable knowledge about the origin of today's place name "Mündling". The namesake "Mundelinga" and "Mediana" are documented. The village received the latter in the course of the latinization of place names in the Middle Ages. The original meaning here can be assumed to be “towering settlement”.

A derivation of “medius” (located in the middle) as a place in the middle does not seem unlikely, since the village of Mündling appears to be located within a ring of the surrounding villages on maps.

The village fire

On July 24, 1848, a large part of the village burned down. 47 families lost their belongings in the accident.
