Małgorzata Łukasiewicz
Małgorzata Łukasiewicz (born May 21, 1948 in Warsaw ) is a Polish translator and literary critic .
Life
Łukasiewicz attended grammar school in Warsaw and graduated from high school there in 1966. She then studied German and French at the University of Warsaw . After graduating , she began studying philosophy , which she completed in 1979 with a master's degree. During her studies she translated useful texts as well as pieces for the theater of Polskie Radio , e.g. B. Pięć rozmoów z synem by Alexander Mischarin from the Russian and Wilhelm i Alicja by Finn Havrevoldfrom Norwegian. From 1974 to 1981 she published further translations and articles in the journal Literatura na Świecie . In addition, she has been publicly committed to the democratic opposition since 1976, which is why she was interned from December 1981 to April 1982 after martial law was declared. After her release, she remained active in the opposition movement. As a scholarship holder, she spent 1985 in Zurich (Fondation pour une entraide intellectuelle européenne), 1988 in Straelen ( European translators' college ), 1989 in Berlin ( Robert Bosch Foundation ) and 1993 in Vienna ( Institute for Human Sciences ). From 1988 to 1996 she worked as an editor for the publishing house Czytelnik and from 1994 again for Literatura na Świecie . From 1998 to 2000 she gave translation seminars at the University of Warsaw. Since 2006 she has been a member of the jury for the Gydnia Literature Prize . In the academic year 2016/17 she gave seminars at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow .
She lives in Warsaw.
