After returning from the war he played with Lubo D'Orio , and from 1946 on Radio Berlin Tanzorchester ; In 1947 he recorded with Willi Stanke's orchestra. In 1948 he moved to Werner Müller in the newly founded RIAS dance orchestra . He recorded under his own name for EMI and Ariola ( We never want to go apart ) , but also with Werner Müller ( All the Things You Are ; Trumpet Boogie), Walter Dobschinski (Hello Mr. Bebop), Kurt Henkels (Nordlicht-Melodie), Lionel Hampton (The Mess Is Here), Kurt Abraham , Omar Lamparter , Kurt Widmann and Marcel Simonet. According to Jürgen Wölfer , he was at times known as the "German Harry James ". Kasper was also seen in films, including 1954 as a musician in Ten fingers .
The guitarist Harry-James Kasper is his son.
