Madeleine Stowe
Madeleine Stowe (* 18th August 1958 in Los Angeles , California as Madeleine Marie Stowe Mora ) is an American actress and among other Golden Globe -Preisträgerin.
life and career
Madeleine Stowe was born the eldest of three sisters. She grew up in Eagle Rock, a suburb of Los Angeles. Her father was from Oregon and her mother was originally from Costa Rica .
When she was ten years old, Stowe took piano lessons with the aim of becoming a concert pianist. She stopped doing that when her teacher died in 1976. She first studied film and journalism at the University of Southern California , but dropped out and played at the Solaris Theater in Beverly Hills , where she discovered a film agent and then got her appearances in television and feature films. She first appeared in 1978 in the television film The Nativity . In 1981 she made her cinema debut in the film Until the Last Shot .
Stowe played only minor roles as a supporting actress in various films for almost fifteen years. Some of her portrayals became known, for example in 1987 in The Night Has Many Eyes or in 1990 in Revenge - A Dangerous Affair with Kevin Costner . In 1992 she got her big chance when she was offered the leading role of officer's daughter Cora in The Last of the Mohicans at the side of Daniel Day-Lewis .
Several major films followed. Director Robert Altman hired Stowe in 1993 for a role in the episode film Short Cuts based on several stories by Raymond Carver , in which she gave one of her best performances. She was a poignant blind musician in the thriller Blink and played the psychiatrist Dr. Railly in the science fiction film Twelve Monkeys with Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt . In 1996, Stowe interrupted her film career to focus on motherhood. In 1998 she returned to the film business with the drama Desire & Reality . From 2011 to 2015 she played Victoria Grayson in the thriller series Revenge .
Stowe has been married to fellow actor Brian Benben since 1986 , with whom she worked on a television film in 1981. The couple have a daughter. They spend their free time on a cattle ranch in Texas .
