Until the last shot (alternative title VHS: Machtkampf der Mafia ; original title: Gangster Wars ) is an American crime film from 1981 about organized crime during the prohibition period in the United States .

The film is an abridged version of the 13-part series The Gangster Chronicles , which was broadcast in the US two months earlier, from February 12, 1981 on NBC .

action

Lucky Luciano , Bugsy Siegel and Michael Lasker are friends and gangsters in the New York City underworld during the Prohibition Period in the United States . Working with established bosses like Al Capone and Joe Masseria to smuggle alcohol turns out to be a grueling business that kills hundreds of gang members in Chicago and New York.

background

The scenes in the film are original recordings from the Universal Television- produced The Gangster Chronicles , which was filmed in Capitola and Santa Cruz . On April 9, 1981, the film was released in the United States and was released on October 9, 1981 in German-speaking countries.

The German synchronization of the film was made under the dialogue director of Heinz Friday for a dialogue book by Heinz Friday by the synchronous company Berliner Synchron .

criticism

The lexicon of international film judges the film as "routinely and ambitiously staged" and "more interested in a hero song". The social background is neglected, "which could shed light on the complexity of the mafia mischief."
