Mai Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 舞 , Itō Mai ; * May 23, 1984 ) is a Japanese marathon runner .

In 2005 she finished sixth in the Matsue Half Marathon, and in 2006 she won the Kyoto Half Marathon. In 2008, she was sixth at the Japanese company championship in the half marathon , in which she was twelfth the following year. This was followed by fourth place in the Sendai half marathon and victory in the half marathon competition of the Shanghai marathon .

In 2010 she finished fourth in the Nagoya Marathon on her debut over the 42.195 km distance . The following year, she qualified second at the Osaka Women's Marathon for the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu, where she came in 22nd place. At the end of the year she was fourth in the San'yō Road Run.

In 2012 she was fifth at the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon and the Nagoya Marathon. In the summer she won the Sapporo Half Marathon and the Shibetsu Half Marathon. At the Half Marathon World Championships in Kawarna she was ninth and won bronze with the team, at the Yokohama Marathon she was fifth.

In 2013 she finished second in the Berlin Half Marathon and seventh in the London Marathon . In the summer she defended her title in Shibetsu and was third in the Hokkaidō Marathon .

Mai Itō is a graduate of the Sangyō University of Kyoto and starts for the corporate team of the pharmaceutical company Ōtsuka Seiyaku .
