Maisha-Maureen Auma (born 1973 in Kisumu ), also Maisha-Maureen Eggers , is a German university professor in the field of diversity studies .

life and work

Maisha-Maureen Auma studied social pedagogy at the state university of applied sciences in Kiel between 1992 and 1995 . She then studied educational sciences , psychology and sociology at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel until 2001 . In 2005 Maisha-Maureen Auma also received her doctorate from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, she was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation . From 2005 to 2006 she was a lecturer at the Humboldt University in Berlin . She taught at the Faculty of Philosophy in the field of gender studies , where they also called in the next two years a researcher further worked. Maisha-Maureen Auma has been Professor of Childhood and Difference (Diversity Studies) at the Stendal location of the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences since 2008 . She has also been a visiting professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin several times. Her work focuses on diversity in educational materials , constructions of difference, criticism of racism , decolonization and intersectionality , as well as critical race theory. In particular, it gives important impulses on the subject of intersectionality.

In 2018, she scientifically accompanied the consultation process of the Berlin Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination on criteria for the visualization and recording of discrimination against People of African Descent.

Maisha-Maureen Auma has been with ADEFRA since 1993 . She has been repeatedly invited by the media and organizers as a specialist on topics related to her major. In 2007 she appeared in a panel discussion on the program 37 Degrees on ZDF on the subject of black skin - white hatred . In 2009 she was also a guest of a talk show entitled Darwin and the race on 3Sat's show scobel . In 2010 she took part in a panel discussion with Michel Friedman at the Werkstatt der Kulturen in Berlin . In the same year, together with the Berlin Senator for Education Jürgen Zöllner , she took over the patronage of the Days of Intercultural Dialogue Berlin-Brandenburg. In 2013, she wrote a statement for the Sunday dispute section of the taz . In addition, she gave several interviews, including for the radio stations Bayern 3 and RBB .
