Maja Ognjenović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Маја Огњеновић ; born August 6, 1984 in Zrenjanin , Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian volleyball player .
Career
Maja Ognjenović has been playing volleyball since 1996 and in the Serbian national team since 2005 . She is a successful setter and captain and took part in the Olympic Games three times, reached fifth place in Beijing in 2008 , eleventh place in London in 2012 and won the silver medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 . Moreover occupied Ognjenovic in the 2006 World Cup third place and at the European Championships in 2007 second place , 2011 number one , 2015 third place and 2,019 first place . There were also victories in the European league in 2009 and 2011 and the bronze medal at the European Games in Baku in 2015 . Ognjenović played for the following clubs: OK Poštar Zrenjanin , OK Red Star Belgrade (2004 Serbian champion), Poštar 064 Belgrade , CSU Metal Galați (2007 and 2008 Romanian champion), Monte Schiavo Jesi (2009 win Challenge Cup), Eczacıbaşı Istanbul , Olympiakos SFP Piraeus , LJ Volley Modena , Impel Wrocław , Chemik Police (2014 Polish double, 2015 Polish champion) and Nordmeccanica Piacenza . Since 2016 she has played again for Eczacıbaşı Istanbul and became club world champion here. Ognjenović was u. a. Awarded "Best Setter" at three European Championships (2007, 2011 and 2015) and at the CEV Challenge Cup 2009 .
