Makmun Murod

Makmun Murod (born December 24, 1924 in Baturaja , South Sumatra , † September 13, 2011 in Jakarta ) was an Indonesian general and diplomat who, among other things, was commander of the Regional Military Command IV Srivijaya between 1962 and 1967, and between 1969 and 1970 commander of the Regional Military Command V Jaya, from 1970 to 1971 Commander of the Strategic Army Reserve Command ( Kostrad ) and from 1974 to 1978 Chief of Staff of the Army of the Armed Forces of Indonesia .

Life

On August 28, 1962, he replaced Major General Harun Sohar Commander of the Regional Military Command IV Srivijaya (Kodam IV) and held this position until June 17, 1967, when Major General Ishaq Djuarsa succeeded him. In 1969, as major general, he succeeded Major General Amir Machmud, commander of the V Jaya Regional Military Command and held this position until his replacement by Major General Poniman in 1970. On February 20, 1970, he himself succeeded Major General Wahono, commander of the influential Strategic Army Reserve Command Kostrad (Komando Cadangan Strategis TNI-Angkatan Darat)and remained in this use until December 26, 1971, whereupon Major General Wahono again succeeded him. He then became the commander of the National Strategic Command KOSTRANAS (Komando Strategis Nasional) and in 1972 as Lieutenant General Commander of the Regional Defense Command Kowilhan (Komando Wilayah Pertahanan) II.

On May 10, 1974 General Makmun Murod succeeded General Surono Reksodimedjo as Chief of Staff of the Army KASAD (Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Darat) of the armed forces of Indonesia and held this post until January 1, 1978, after which General R. Widodo took his place . In 1978 he replaced Mohamad Hasan as ambassador to Malaysia and remained in this post until 1981, whereupon Rais Abin replaced him. He was also Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Board DPA (Dewan Pertimbangan Agung) and Chairman of the Association of Former Military Members (Ketua Umum Persatuan Purnawirawan ABRI) .
