Malachy John Goltok

Malachy John Goltok (born July 12, 1965 in Bauchi ; † March 21, 2015 in Jos ) was a Nigerian Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Bauchi .

Life

Malachy John attended school in Wunti, Bauchi (1972–1978) and the St. John Vianney Minor Seminary in Barkin Ladi in Jos (1978–1984). He studied theology and philosophy (1984–1990) at the St. Augustine Seminary in Jos. The bishop of Jos , Gabriel Gonsum Ganaka , ordained him on November 4, 1990 . He held various offices in his diocese.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on March 18, 2011 Bishop of Bauchi. The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Saint Andrews and Edinburgh , Keith Michael Patrick Cardinal O'Brien , on May 19 of the same year; Co- consecrators were James Naanman Daman OESA , Bishop of Shendam , and Charles M. Hammawa , Bishop of Jalingo . He was the first native bishop of Bauchi.

He succumbed to a brief, serious illness on March 21, 2015.
