Gabriel Gonsum Ganaka

Gabriel Gonsum Ganaka (born May 24, 1937 in Pankshin , Nigeria , † November 11, 1999 ) was a Nigerian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jos .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy, Gabriel Gonsum Ganaka received the sacrament of ordination on July 4, 1965 through the Bishop of Jos, John J. Reddington SMA .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on May 17, 1973 . to titular bishop of Cuicul and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Jos. The Bishop of Ikot Ekpene , Dominic Ignatius Ekandem , donated him episcopal ordination on September 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Umuahia , Anthony Gogo Nwedo CSSp , and the Bishop of Benin City , Patrick Ebosele Ekpu .

Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Jos on October 5, 1974. On March 26, 1994 Gabriel Gonsum Ganaka was appointed archbishop of Jos as a result of the elevation of the diocese of Jos to the archbishopric of Pope John Paul II .
