The Roman Catholic Diocese of Umuahia ( Latin Dioecesis Umuahiana , English Diocese of Umuahia ) is in Nigeria situated Roman Catholic Diocese with headquarters in Umuahia .

history

The diocese of Umuahia was founded on June 23, 1958 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Sollicite usque from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Owerri and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Onitsha as a suffragan . On January 24, 1981, the Diocese of Umuahia gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Constitution Quandoquidem Sanctissima from the Diocese of Okigwe . Another area assignment was made on 2 April 1990 founding of the Apostolic Constitution quidem Praeteritis erected Diocese of Aba . The diocese of Umuahia was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Owerri as a suffragan on March 26, 1994.
