The Malek National Library and the Malek National Museum ( Persian کتابخانه و موزه ملی ملک Ketabchane o Muse ye Melli ye Malek , IPA : [ cɛtɑbxɑnɛ o muzɛ jɛ mɛlli je mælɛc ]) are located in the Iranian capital Tehran . The Malek National Library is considered to be one of the largest libraries in Iran. It contains valuable manuscripts .

Both the library and the museum were donated by Hossein Agha Malek in 1937 . Books and art objects were in his house until 1966. Then they were moved to a new building on Imam Khomeini Street next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in downtown Tehran and their uses were expanded. Malek donated the facility to Astana Quds Rezavi . Malek, a notable turn of the century intellectual in Iran, was considered a major art collector . A new museum building was opened in 1997.

Collections

Malek National Library

The library with 19,000 rare and exquisite exhibits is one of the six great treasuries in the country. The five other libraries are the National Library , the Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi , the Library, the Museum and Writings Center of Majles , Marashi Najafi Library and the Central Library of Tehran University .

The Malek National Library contains 70,000 printed books, 3,400 lithographically printed books and 548 magazine titles in 4,000 volumes. A large number of the printed books date from before 1941 and are among the first printed books in Iran.
