Malla is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Malla is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Malla in the province of Loayza . The village of Malla is located at an altitude of 3815  m in one of the eastern valleys of the Serranía de Sicasica near the Quimsa Cruz cordillera .

geography

Malla lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a typical daytime climate in which the temperature differences between day and night are greater than the mean temperature differences between the seasons.

The mean average temperature of the region is 9 ° C, the annual precipitation is 500 to 600 mm (see climate diagram Viloco), with a pronounced dry season from May to August with monthly values ​​of less than 15 mm.

Transport network

Malla is located at a distance of 215 kilometers by road southeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, the paved highway Ruta 1 leads south via El Alto to the south. Twelve kilometers south of El Alto, a country road branches off to the southwest and follows the Río Cala Jahuira twenty kilometers upstream. From there, a dirt road branches off to the northeast and after another 35 kilometers reaches Sapahaqui . The piste follows the course of the Río Sapahaqui to the village of Caracato and further the Río Caracato north to Khola and from there another 75 kilometers in a south-easterly direction via Viloco to Malla .
