The Mando Corporation ( kor. 주식회사 만도 ) is a South Korean automotive supplier . Mando produces steering parts, brakes and suspensions . The company supplies General Motors , Cadillac , Ford , Chrysler , Chevrolet , Nissan , Kia Motors , Fiat , Volkswagen , BMW , Suzuki , Hyundai etc. Mando belongs to the Halla Group .

The European headquarters, Mando Corporation Europe GmbH, is located in Frankfurt am Main .

history

Mando was founded in 1962 by Chung In-yeong , the younger brother of the founder of Hyundai , Chung Ju-yung . The company initially traded as Hyundai International Inc. ( 현대 양행 ), but changed its name to Mando Machinery Corporation in 1980. In 1988 the company opened a braking systems factory in Pyeongtaek and two years later a steering systems factory. By 1995, Mando had another suspension factory in Iksan and a research and development center. Mando America Corporation was founded in 1996. During the Asian crisis in 1999, Mando was sold to Sunsage and renamed Mando Corporation. However, the Halla Group, which was also founded by Chung In-yeong, subsequently bought Mando back.
