Manfred Bauer (writer)

Manfred Bauer (born March 28, 1957 in Vienna ; † August 11, 2012 in Purkersdorf ) was an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

According to his own statements, Manfred Bauer began to write poetry at the age of 12. From the age of 17, Bauer was editor of the cultural magazine Trittbrett, later a journalist for the Vienna daily Kurier , the Wiener Zeitung , the Niederösterreichische Nachrichten and, most recently, the Volksstimme . Bauer studied communication science, philosophy, pedagogy and economics at the University of Vienna and at the Institute for Social History in Amsterdam and received his PhD. phil in 1983.

In addition to his journalistic work, Bauer was an employee of the Österreichische Länderbank and deputy press officer of the financial institute (1983–1987). Bauer founded the communications agency "Trimedia" in Vienna, which he managed until 1993. In his hometown of Purkersdorf , Bauer was a councilor from 1989 to 1990, councilor for finance and operations from 1990 to 1995 and again from 2005 to 2010. From 1991 to 1993 he was also the parliamentary secretary of Karl Schlögl .

Bauer lived and worked as a writer, media scientist and librarian at the city library in Purkersdorf near Vienna. He wrote political novels and plays. Most recently he published the novel Landauer und die Clowns (edition Reizwort, Vienna 2010) in which he deals with the political background to the kidnapping of a three-year-old boy in the spa town of Bad Tatzmannsdorf . Bauer confessed to "left social democracy"; B. in his book Friedrich Adler - Rebell der Einheit (anyway publishers, Vienna 2004).

In 2008 Manfred Bauer published a scholarly article about "Friedrich Adler as a left-wing socialist" in the book Otto Bauer and Austromarxism in Dietz Verlag . Integral Socialism and Today's Left . In the same year the short story Saeculum saeculorum by Bauer appeared in the balance book of the 20th century , published by Globus Verlag, in 2009 the short story Auf -rechte Bürger , published in the anthology Wir rescue a system by Globus Verlag. In spring 2010 Bauer finished his scenic installation Lina Loos - Lügelos Leben . In 2007 Bauer received the Lower Austrian Culture Forum's Prize for Literature and Culture.
