Manfred Heim

Manfred Heim (born December 20, 1961 in Munich ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and church historian.

Life

Manfred Heim studied Latin and German Philology as well as Catholic Theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In the 1986/87 school year he taught German at the high school in Saint-Brieuc , Brittany . From 1988 to 1993 he was a research assistant, later a senior assistant, with Georg Schwaiger at the Chair for Church History of the Middle Ages and Modern Times at the LMU. In 1989 he obtained a licentiate in theology, in 1991 he became a bishop and archdeacon: spiritual competencies in the Diocese of Chiemsee (1215-1817) as a Dr. theol. PhD . In 1994 he completed his habilitation in the subject of church history in the Middle Ages and modern times with a paper on Ludwig Joseph Freiherr von Welden , Prince-Bishop of Freising.

In 1996 he received a call on the Chair of Bavarian church history at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and was from 2001 to 2010 vice dean and dean of studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty.

In 1997 he was elected a full member of the Commission for Bavarian State History at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and was entrusted with the management of the Church History Atlas of Bavaria project . In addition to numerous other engagements, since October 1998 he has been a permanent employee of the Germania Sacra research project with a focus on the historical-statistical description of the Chiemsee diocese . Since October 2000 he has been a member of the inquiry commission set up by Cardinal Friedrich Wetter , Archbishop of Munich and Freising, for forced labor in the church sector . He also wrote some articles in the Biographical-Bibliographical Church Lexicon (BBKL).

Manfred Heim has been an honorary member of the Catholic student association KDStV Aenania Munich in the CV since 2004 .
