Manfred Seifert (born April 22, 1949 in Rosenheim ; † April 14, 2005 ibid), also called "Manni", was a German football goalkeeper .

Athletic career

Emerging from the youth of TSV 1860 Rosenheim , Seifert received a professional contract with FC Bayern Munich at the beginning of the 1969/70 season - from now on as a substitute goalkeeper for Sepp Maier . Nevertheless, he made his Bundesliga debut; on April 30, 1970 (33rd matchday) he was substituted on in the 80th minute for Sepp Maier in the 6-2 win in the home game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . After three more seasons, in which he played three Bundesliga and three DFB Cup games, he not only left Bayern , but also the Bundesliga.

For the 1973/74 season he moved to the Regionalliga Süd for FC Bayern Hof, with whom he qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga South in his first season . In four seasons he played 79 second division games and five national cup games. As seventeenth in the table , the club could not hold the class and then rose to the Bayern League .

Trivia

In addition to his four Bundesliga games for Bayern , Seifert also played three games in the DFB-Pokal competition. The second encounter in the quarter-final second leg on April 12, 1972 was rightly dubbed "The Battle of Cologne": Seifert had to go 51. Minute with injuries to the chest for Helmut Schwalb, Wolfgang Sühnholz suffered a broken leg and Franz Krauthausen's teeth were knocked out on the way to the cabin.

Seifert died in spring 2005 shortly before his 56th birthday. He left a daughter.
