Manfred Voigt (politician)

Manfred Voigt (* 23. February 1935 in Szczecin ; † 25. September 2001 ) was a functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

After attending elementary and high school from 1953 to 1957, the son of an employee completed a degree in economics with a degree in economics . Voigt, who became a member of the SED in 1955, then worked until 1965 as an employee and chairman of the planning commission at the Altenburg district council and at times deputy chairman of the district council.

In 1965 he moved to the State Planning Commission , where he was sector manager from 1969 to 1976. During this time, he completed his doctorate in 1970 at the Berlin School of Economics with a dissertation on the design of inter-company supply relationships for drawing-based supplier products under the conditions of long-term individual production: Shown using the example of the VEB transformer factory "Karl Liebknecht" Berlin-Oberschöneweide . Since 1974 he has been a member of the SED district leadership of the State Planning Commission, in 1976 he was first second secretary and in 1981, as successor to Ernst Höfner, who had risen to become finance minister of the GDR, first secretary of this SED district leadership. He held this position until 1986. In 1984/85 he graduated from the Karl Marx party college .

Most recently, Manfred Voigt was from 1986 until the dissolution of the SED in 1989 as the successor to Hans-Joachim Rüscher, head of the light, food and district-managed industry of the SED Central Committee . Since June 1986 he was the successor candidate of the People's Chamber. On November 17, 1989, he moved up as a member of the People's Chamber and was a member until the end of the ninth electoral term in March 1990.

Voigt was then still active as a member of the Economic, Agricultural and Social Policy Commission of the PDS party executive.
