Manheim is a town in Herkimer County , New York in the United States . At the 2010 census , Manheim had 3334 inhabitants. The name Manheims is derived from the city of Mannheim in Baden-Württemberg .
The Town of Manheim is located in the southeastern part of the county and borders the City of Little Falls in the southwest . Manheim is east of Utica .
The Erie Canal runs through the southern part of the urban area.

In today's area of Manheim, immigrants from German-speaking countries settled in around 1756.
During the American Revolutionary War , the English and their native allies attacked settlements in the area several times.
Manheim was separated from the Town of Palatine of what was then Montgomery County in 1797 and became independent.
In 1865 Manheim had 1831 inhabitants.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 76.8 km², of which 75.2 km² is land and 1.6 km² (= 2.09%) is water.
The eastern city limit is the county line with Fulton County , which is marked by East Canada Creek . The southern city limit is the Mohawk River .
New York State Route 5 is an east-west connection in the southern area of the city. New York State Route 167 and New York State Route 170A run north-south. NY-170A is located in the northwestern part of Manheim, and NY-167 connects Little Falls to Dolgeville.

- Ingham Mills - a hamlet on the eastern border of the town, south of Dolgeville, founded in 1802 when mills for grain and wood were built there

At the time of the United States Census 2000 Manheim lived in 3171 people. The population density was 42.2 people per km ². There were 1480 housing units at an average of 19.7 per km ². Manheim's population was 97.86% white , 0.35% black or African American , 0.47% Native American , 0.38% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , and 0.06% of other races belong to and 0.85% mentioned two or more races. 0.69% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Manheim distributed to 1297 households, of which 30.8% were living in children under 18 years. 51.7% of households were married, 10.4% had a female head of household without a husband, and 31.7% were not families. 27.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 14.9% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.92.
The population was divided into 24.7% minors, 7.7% 18–24 year olds, 25.2% 25–44 year olds, 25.8% 45–64 year olds and 16.7% aged 65 years or more. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 women there were 93.7 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 91.5 men.
