Manheim is a town in Herkimer County , New York in the United States . At the 2010 census , Manheim had 3334 inhabitants. The name Manheims is derived from the city ​​of Mannheim in Baden-Württemberg .

The Town of Manheim is located in the southeastern part of the county and borders the City of Little Falls in the southwest . Manheim is east of Utica .

The Erie Canal runs through the southern part of the urban area.

history

In today's area of ​​Manheim, immigrants from German-speaking countries settled in around 1756.

During the American Revolutionary War , the English and their native allies attacked settlements in the area several times.

Manheim was separated from the Town of Palatine of what was then Montgomery County in 1797 and became independent.
