Manuel "Manny" Pérez Batista (born May 5, 1969 in Baitoa , Santiago ) is a Dominican - American actor .

life and career

Manny Pérez was born in the city of Baitoa in the Dominican Republic. He is one of 11 children. His cousin is Pulitzer Prize- winning writer Junot Díaz . After completing school in his home country, he knew he wanted to be an actor and therefore moved to New York , where he successfully graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 1992. He lives in Washington Heights , a neighborhood in Manhattan .

He has been an actor since 1993. After a relatively short time he played in both films and television series. His breakthrough came with the 2002 film Washington Heights . In addition to his portrayal, for which he received a lot of praise, he was a producer and also involved in the script. In addition to this success, he was also seen in films such as The Law of Honor , Bella or Deadly Currency - Settling at the End .
