He lives in Washington Heights , a neighborhood in Manhattan .
He has been an actor since 1993. After a relatively short time he played in both films and television series. His breakthrough came with the 2002 film Washington Heights . In addition to his portrayal, for which he received a lot of praise, he was a producer and also involved in the script. In addition to this success, he was also seen in films such as The Law of Honor , Bella or Deadly Currency - Settling at the End . His guest appearances on television include series such as CSI: Miami , Criminal Minds or Cold Case - No victim is ever forgotten . He also played recurring roles in Third Watch - Bet at the Limit , 100 Center Street or Homeland .
By his own account, he was very overweight when he came to New York. Doctors later found that this was due to the effects of hookworm infestation. The reason was that Pérez was often barefoot when he was a child. After Hurricane Noel wreaked havoc on his homeland, he donated 10,000 pairs of shoes to the people who had lost everything.
