Life

The daughter of the well-known architect Meinhard von Gerkan was discovered by a model scout in Hamburg when she was nineteen . After graduating from high school in Hamburg- Blankenese, she went to New York City , where she still lives today. In the 1990s she was one of the fashion models in demand and represented the elegant Hanseatic "cool blond " type. In the English-speaking world she became known as "Manon, the German model".

Gerkan was featured on many international front pages , including the 1996 covers of Elle and Shape , and 1998 of Cosmopolitan ; In 1996 she posed for Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue .

She became known through her campaign for Wonderbra , Ralph Lauren , Victoria's Secret and Chanel , but also worked with Gerry Weber , Longines , Lord & Taylor , Lee Jeans , Pantene and L'Oréal .

She received the first small engagements as an actress and played in 2001 in the Hollywood Strip Shallow Hal ( Shallow Hal ), the girl Lindy alongside Jack Black . In the US crime series "A Nero Wolfe Mystery" she had five appearances in 2002 alongside Hollywood star Timothy Hutton .

Manon von Gerkan has been designing and selling her own jewelry line Manon Jewelry with a flagship boutique in New York City , where Hollywood stars are regular customers, since 2000 . She had her breakthrough with her body chain , a "body chain " made of gold , in which the neck and navel of the wearer are connected to one another. Her collection now includes around two hundred different pieces of jewelry.

Her liaison with the American magician and endurance artist David Blaine , which she looked after and provided with food, caused a sensation , while he was locked in a Plexiglas box in London and was pelted with eggs by the audience (although von Gerkan already had times threw back).
