Marc-André Cliche (born March 23, 1987 in Rouyn-Noranda , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League during his career . Cliche was considered a defensively oriented striker, who was mostly used in the fourth row and in the minority game.

Career

Marc-André Cliche as captain of the monarchs (2011)

Cliche began his career in the 2003/04 season with the Lewiston MAINEiacs in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , where he was on the ice for the following four seasons and most recently even acted as team captain.

After the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League during the NHL Draft in 2005 , the transfer rights were secured to the Canadians, it was in February 2007 due to a larger player exchange for league rivals Los Angeles Kings transferred. There the attacker was used almost exclusively in the farm team Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League in the following six years , his first and only NHL game for the Kings he made in the 2009/10 season . With the Monarchs, too, Cliche's in-team leadership qualities were evident, so that between 2010 and 2013 he also held the captaincy there.

For the 2013/14 season , the Colorado Avalanche signed the right-handed shooter and Cliche was able to establish himself there straight away in the regular NHL squad.

In February 2016, Cliche was given to the New York Islanders in exchange for Taylor Beck . There he was only used in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers before he signed a contract with the Toronto Marlies as a free agent only valid for the AHL in July 2016 .

International

Cliche made his international debut with Team Canada Québec at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2004 and won the bronze medal there. He also won the gold medal with the Canadian U20 team at the 2007 U20 World Cup .
