Marcantonio Marcolini
Marcantonio Marcolini (born November 22, 1721 in Fano ; † June 18, 1782 there ) was cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
Attending the Collegio di San Carlo in Modena since February 22, 1732, he was admitted to the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy in Rome in 1740 and received his doctorate on July 3, 1742 at the University of La Sapienza as Doctor iuris utriusque . In the following years he was a trainee lawyer at the Apostolic Signature of Justice, where he also went to the tribunal. Also active as a relator of the Congregation for the Administration of Goods, he then became an economist and secretary of the cathedral building works of St. Peter .
Marcolini received on 27 February 1768, the sacrament of holy orders and became the on June 12, 1769 Titular Archbishop of Thessalonica appointed. The episcopal ordination donated him on June 29, 1769 in Frascati Henry Benedict Mary Cardinal Stuart ; Co- consecrators were the Maronite Archbishop Stefano Evodio Assemani , custodian of the Biblioteca Vaticana , and Francesco Maria Piccolomini , Bishop of Pienza . Appointed nuncio to Florence on August 23, 1769 , he became secretary of the Sacra Consulta in Rome on February 16, 1771 and general auditor of the Apostolic Chamber on May 18, 1771 .
Since May 2, 1775 President in Urbino, Pope Pius VI raised him . on June 23, 1777 cardinal and appointed him on July 28, 1777 cardinal priest of the titular church Sant'Onofrio al Gianicolo .
