Marcin Gawron (born May 25, 1988 in Nowy Sącz ) is a Polish tennis player .

Career

Marcin Gawron was already successful on the Junior Tour. In 2006 he took part in the French Open , Wimbledon Championships and US Open . At the Wimbledon Championships he even made it into the final as a qualifier, which he lost to Thiemo de Bakker in two sets . His best placement was a combined 29th place in July 2006.

Gawron has been playing tournaments with the professionals since 2006, mostly on the third-class ITF Future Tour and the second-class ATP Challenger Tour . He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in 2007 in doubles in Sopot . He and Adam Chadaj received a wild card for doubles , but lost in the first round to Dawid Olejniczak and Michał Przysiężny . In September he won his first individual futures title. A year later he was able to win more futures titles, this time in doubles. In addition, he celebrated his first title win on the Challenger Tour. At the side of his compatriot Mateusz Kowalczyk , he prevailed in Bytom in the final in three sets. He finished the year in both singles and doubles in the top 400 of the world rankings .

In the following two years, Gawron did not achieve any major success, so that he stagnated in the world rankings. Nevertheless, Gawron made his debut for the Polish Davis Cup team . In the duel against Israel he played the first individual against Dudi Sela , which he lost in three sets. Later in the year he achieved his best position in the world rankings with two futures titles in singles and two second round entries on the Challenger Tour with the 262nd place. In September he won his second double title on the Challenger Tour. In Stettin he and Andriej Kapaś won the final against the Kazakhs Andrei Golubew and Juri Schchukin in straight sets. Thanks to this success, he made it into the top 300 of the double world rankings for the first time with 272nd place. With two further successes on the Futuretour, he improved to 268th place in September 2012, which is still his career high in doubles.

In the individual, it was less successful for Gawron in the following years. After 2012, he did not win another title on the Future Tour, which resulted in a decline in the world rankings. On the Challenger Tour he had to start more and more often in the qualification, which he only survived sporadically. In doubles he was a bit more successful, he won five more titles on the Future Tour, but was also outside the top 1000 in the world. In September 2017 he played his last challenger tournament in doubles, which is why he is currently no longer in the doubles ranking.

Gawron played between 2012 and 2016 for the Gladbacher HTC in the 1st and 2nd tennis Bundesliga . Since 2017 he has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga tennis for the LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin .
