Marco Motta (born May 14, 1986 in Merate ) is an Italian football player who plays mainly in defense .

Career

society

Motta began his career at Atalanta Bergamo , where he was first used in various youth teams. He has been under contract with Udinese Calcio since summer 2005 and was loaned to Turin FC for the 2007/08 season.

On February 1, 2009 Udinese awarded him to league rivals AS Roma , on February 8, 2009 he celebrated his debut for the capital city in a 3-0 win in the game against CFC Genoa . In the summer of 2009, the Roma bought half of his transfer rights, which Motta continued to commit.

In June 2010, the joint venture to Gusten von Udinese was dissolved again. At the beginning of July Motta switched to Juventus Turin on loan . The record champions had a purchase option that he took on June 22, 2011. Motta signed a four-year contract with Turin until June 30, 2015 and cost 3.75 million euros.

After he was not used under the new Juve coach Antonio Conte in the first half of the 2011/12 season , Motta was awarded to league rivals Catania Calcio for the return series . For the 2012/13 season Motta was loaned to FC Bologna .

On January 23, 2014, Motta was loaned to CFC Genoa until the end of the 2013/14 season. He returned to Turin for the 2014/15 season . After Motta had n't made a single appearance under the new coach Massimiliano Allegri , the players and club agreed to terminate the contract in January 2015.

At the end of February 2015, the English second division club Watford FC signed him until the end of the season. For Watford, Motta completed nine games in the second half of the championship and reached with the team one point behind AFC Bournemouth, second place and promotion to the Premier League . Since his expiring contract was not extended, Motta had been looking for a club since August 1, 2015. In February 2016, he signed a contract with Charlton Athletic .

National team

From the Italian U-16 selection, Motta went through all Italian national teams and was a permanent member of the U-21 team, for which he was active in a total of 31 games between 2005 and 2009. With this he also took part in the 2007 European Championship and was also in the squad for the Euro 2009 . On August 10, 2010 Motta made his debut in the Italian senior team when he was in the friendly international match against the Ivory Coast in the starting lineup of the Azzurri .
