2015– Teramo Calcio (youth coordinator)
1 Only league games are given.

Marco Villa (born July 18, 1978 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German football player of Italian descent. He is currently the youth coordinator for the Italian third division club Teramo Calcio .

Club career

Marco Villa came to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1994 at the age of 16 from the youth department of KFC Uerdingen 05 . On the 4th matchday of the 1996/97 season he was then used for the first time in the Bundesliga . In the 1-0 defeat against Werder Bremen , he came on in the 70th minute for Jörgen Pettersson . One match day later he was already in the starting line-up for the game against Hamburger SV and scored the opening goal for the foals in the 20th minute (final score 3-0). With this goal, the now 18-year-old Villa was the youngest league goal scorer in the history of Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, it should remain one of his few goals in the Bundesliga. Ultimately, Marco Villa never got beyond the role of reservist in Mönchengladbach and only played 2 of his 24 games over the full 90 minutes.

In the summer of 1999 he then moved to the Austrian first division club SV Ried , where he was used for the first time on June 30, 1999. In the 2-1 away win at SW Bregenz , the German came on in the 66th minute and scored the winning goal in the 84th minute. In six months at Ried he scored 8 times in 22 games, but was unable to compete with direct competitors such as B. enforce Ronald Brunmayr . This was followed by a year and a half with Panathinaikos Athens in Greece, before the Düsseldorf native returned to Germany. At 1. FC Nürnberg , however, just like at his first Bundesliga station Mönchengladbach, he only played a reserve role and was unable to score a goal in eleven games, also due to numerous injuries.

In 2003 Marco Villa moved to the Italian third division club AC Arezzo , with whom he was first at the end of the season and promoted to Serie B. During the winter break of the following season, the striker moved back to the third division for SPAL Ferrara . As in the previous year, the club again reached 9th place in the table in 2005. Villa has been playing in the amateur league Serie D since 2006 .

National team

During his time as a highly regarded talent at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Marco Villa also made nine international matches for the German U-21 national team and scored one goal.

Others

He met Robert Enke in Gladbach and during the time they spent together in the armed forces . He became one of his closest confidants. After Enke's death in 2009, Marco Villa appeared more and more in public.
