Marcus Godinho (born June 28, 1997 in Toronto ) is a Canadian soccer player who is under contract with FSV Zwickau . He is used in defense and is a Canadian international.

Club career

Marcus Godinho was born in 1997 in Toronto , the capital of the Canadian province of Ontario , to Portuguese parents from Peniche and Terceira . At the age of five he began his football training with North York Azzurri.

At the age of fourteen he joined the youth academy of Toronto FC , for the club's second team he was later active in the United Soccer League . He then played for a year with Vaughan Azzurri in the lower-class League1 Ontario. In June 2016 Godinho moved to Heart of Midlothian in Scotland . After a year in the club's U20 team, he was awarded to the Scottish fourth division club Berwick Rangers from August 2017 to January 2018 . On March 4, 2018, Godinho made his professional debut for Hearts when he started the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup against FC Motherwell .

In July 2019, the defender moved to the German 3rd division for FSV Zwickau , where he signed a contract until 2021.

National team

Marcus Godinho played in the U-18 of Canada from 2015 to 2016 . He has been active for the U-20 national team since 2016 .
