Marcus Hassaeus

Marcus Hassaeus ( Latinized ), also Marcus Hasse (born May 15, 1549 in Havelberg ; † January 9, 1620 in Rostock ) was a German philologist , philosopher and Hebraist . He worked as a university professor and rector at the University of Rostock .

Life

Marcus Hasse was born in 1549 "on the Monday after Jubilate " as the son of Mayor Joachim Hasse and his wife Katharina Salemann. He studied at the universities in Wittenberg , in Rostock in 1571 and then in Frankfurt (Oder) , where he received his master's degree in 1577 . Further studies took him to Leipzig and again to Rostock. In 1580 he was accepted into the Philosophical Faculty at Rostock University. As successor to Anton Bocatius , he was appointed council professor Paedagogicus for Christian catechesis and Latin language at the pedagogy (Michaelis college) and also inspector of the college. In 1584 he became a full professor of morality at the Phil. Faculty. From 1593 he became ducal professor of the Hebrew language and Christian catechesis. He held this position until his death. Hasse administered the Dean's Office ten times, the Rectorate twice and the Pro-Rectorate three times. From 1610 he was also a senior at the academy. The funeral speech of the university was given by Thomas Lindemann the Elder. Ä. held.

Marcus Hasse was married to Anna Schröder († 1613) from 1579 and in second marriage from 1614 to Katharina Flindt. There are no sources about descendants.
