Margit Gaard Joensen (born February 12, 1974 ) is a former Faroese soccer player .

Joensen has played her entire career with KÍ Klaksvík . Between 1991 and 2001 she completed 85 league games, the first of which on the second matchday in 1991 in the 3-0 away defeat against ÍF Fuglafjørður . A year later, at that time she was already one of the regular players, she scored her first goal on matchday 14 in a 1-0 home win against VB Vágur . In 1996 she was in the final of the Cup for the first time , which was lost 3-1 to HB Tórshavn . After a one-year break, she returned in 1998 as a regular player. A year later, she only played five league games. The cup final was lost again against HB Tórshavn 3: 4 after extra time. In 2000 the double of championship and cup finally succeeded , whereby the revenge against HB succeeded with a 2-0. After that, she ended her career.

National team

For the national team of Faroe Joensen ran eight times in between 1995 and 1996. She made her debut in the first official game on September 24, 1995 in the European Championship qualifier against Ireland in Toftir , which was lost 2-0. Joensen came on for Anja Rein in the 71st minute . On June 8, 1996, she played in the European Championship qualifier against Wales in the 0-1 defeat in Toftir for the last time for the national team.
