Malena Josephsen (born January 3, 1977 ) is a Faroese soccer player . In the first Faroese league she is a record player as well as a former record player of the national team .

Josephsen has been with KÍ Klaksvík since she was a teenager . She played her first competitive game in 1994 at the age of 17 when she came on as a substitute in the first round of the Cup in a 4-0 away win against GÍ Gøta and scored the final score there. In the league , she made her debut on matchday one in the 0-2 away defeat against B36 Tórshavn , where she was again substituted. However, she quickly developed into a regular player, the only league goal she succeeded in a 2-1 away win on matchday six against EB Eiði . However, she was able to gradually increase this rate, in 2000 she scored 25 league goals. After 1997 she also won the second championship title that year, with the 2-0 victory in the cup against HB Tórshavn the double was achieved. The team included Rannvá Andreasen , Annelisa Justesen , Bára Klakstein and Ragna Patawary . Overall, Josephsen was able to win the championship 19 times and the trophy 13 times. The last titles included Katrina Akursmørk , Oddrún Danielsen , Olga Kristina Hansen , Eyðvør Klakstein , Fríðrún Olsen , Maria Thomsen and Randi Wardum . In 2005 she was top scorer for the first time with 27 goals, in 2007 a second time with 17 goals.

With 409 appearances, she is the record player in the first division and also the second most successful goalscorer behind Rannvá Andreasen with 323 goals.

European Cup

In the UEFA Women's Champions League , Josephsen played 47 games, the first of which in 2001/02 in the preliminary round in a 2-1 win over USC Landhaus Wien . The first of a total of nine goals she achieved in 2002/03 in the preliminary round in a 2-0 win against TKSK Visa Tallinn , in which she scored the opening goal.

National team

Josephsen was the national team's record player with 41 games before she was overtaken by Rannvá Andreasen . The first game she completed on October 12, 2004 in the 1: 2 defeat in the friendly against Ireland in Klaksvík . Her first goal was in the European Championship qualification against Wales in Strumica , in which she marked the final score of 1: 2. With a total of ten goals she is in third place behind Rannvá Andreasen and Heidi Sevdal . Josephsen played her last game on April 9, 2015 in the European Championship qualifier against Malta in Ħamrun , which was won 4-2.
