The Faroese Women's Football Championship 2005 was held in the first Faroese League called 1. Deild and was the 21st season overall. It started on April 17, 2005 and ended on October 15, 2005.
With the re-establishment of FS Vágar as FS Vágar in 2004 , this was the 23rd participant in the top division. Champion was defending champion KÍ Klaksvík , who could win the title for the sixth time in a row and for the seventh time overall. On the other hand, FS Vágar had to relegate in 2004 after a year of first class.
Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 4.51 per game, which was the lowest average since 1996 . B36 Tórshavn achieved the highest victory with an 11-1 home game against GÍ Gøta on matchday nine, which was also the highest-scoring game.
mode
By reducing to six teams in the 1st Deild , each team now played four times against each other on 20 game days for one season. The team with the best points at the end of the season was clear as champions of this league, the last team relegated to the 2nd Deild . In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided.
Season course
Championship decision
KÍ Klaksvík and B36 Tórshavn initially moved in lockstep and each won the first four games of the season. In a direct duel on matchday five, KÍ prevailed 4-2 away at B36. B36 inflicted the first point loss on KÍ in the second leg at 1-1 on the tenth match day. In the third meeting, B36 Tórshavn lost again 2-1 in the home game against KÍ Klaksvík. The decision for the championship was made on the 17th matchday due to previous point losses on the part of B36. KÍ did not get past a 2-2 away match against AB Argir , which was the second and last game not won during the season, but B36 Tórshavn also drew at home and reached a 1-1 draw against FS Vágar in 2004 , so that the lead of ten points could not be made up. B36 also lost the game on the last matchday against KÍ Klaksvík 2: 6.
Relegation battle
FS Vágar 2004 achieved the first point win with a 1-1 win in the away game against AB Argir on the third match day. Since otherwise only defeats were recorded up to and including the twelfth match day, the team consistently occupied last place from the fifth match day. The first and only victory followed on matchday 16 with a 2-1 home win against GÍ Gøta . Already on the next match day after the 1-1 away game against B36 Tórshavn the relegation was finally certain, as the direct competitor AB Argir was able to keep the lead of ten points with a 2-2 in the home game against KÍ Klaksvík.
