The 2017 Faroese Football Championship was held in the first Faroese league called 1. Deild and was the 33rd season overall. It started on March 12, 2017 and ended on October 7, 2017.
AB Argir / B71 Sandur was the 30th participant in the top division through the merger of AB Argir and B71 Sandur . Master was EB / Streymur / Skála , who could win the title for the first time. Defending champion KÍ Klaksvík landed in second place, which ended the series of 18 championships in a row.
Compared to the previous season, the goal rate improved to 4.65 per game. The highest victory achieved KÍ Klaksvík with a 13-0 in the home game against ÍF / Víkingur on the twelfth matchday, which was also the most scoring game.

By increasing to seven teams in the 1st Deild , each team should originally play against each other three times on 21 game days. After the withdrawal of AB Argir / B71 Sandur, the game day was redesigned and each team now played four times against each other on 20 game days. The team with the highest points at the end of the season is the champions of this league.
Season course
EB / Streymur / Skála and KÍ Klaksvík each won 12 of the first 13 games. In the two direct duels, KÍ prevailed 3-1 on matchday three and EB / Streymur / Skála 4-1 on matchday 9 as the home team. On matchday 14, KÍ managed another home win against EB / Streymur / Skála with a 2-1. While EB / Streymur / Skála could win the next five league games, KÍ Klaksvík made decisive point losses in the games against HB Tórshavn with a 1-1 away game and a 4-0 home defeat on the penultimate matchday. In the national cup , champions EB / Streymur / Skála won 3-2 against HB Tórshavn and thus achieved the double .
European Cup
In 2017/18 KÍ Klaksvík played in the qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League as last year 's champions . After a 0: 9 against UMF Stjarnan (Iceland) and a 0: 4 against ŽNK Osijek (Croatia) a 6-1 win against ŽFK Istatov (Macedonia) was achieved. The group was thus finished in third place.
