The Faroese women's football championship in 1986 was held in the first Faroese league called 1. Deild and was the second season overall. It started on April 26, 1986 with EB Eiði's game against B36 Tórshavn and ended on September 14, 1986.

Champion HB Tórshavn , which could thus win the title for the first time. Defending champion B36 Tórshavn finished in fourth place. However, MB Miðvágur and SÍF Sandavágur had to relegate for the first time as founding members of the 1st Deild . MB Miðvágur stayed here over the entire season without winning a point. Otherwise only GÍ Gøta II ( 1985 ) KÍ Klaksvík ( 1987 ), NSÍ Runavík ( 1989 ), MB Miðvágur ( 1991 ) and Skála ÍF ( 1998 ) remained without a point .

Compared to the previous season, the goal rate worsened to 3.25 per game. The highest victory achieved HB Tórshavn with a 15-1 in the home game against MB Miðvágur on the ninth matchday, which was also the most scoring game.

By reducing to eight teams in the 1st Deild , each team now played twice against each other in a single-track league on 14 match days. The team with the best points at the end of the season was the champions of this league, the last two teams were relegated to the 2nd Deild .

Championship decision

HB Tórshavn took first place from the start and did not give it up until the end of the season. On the fifth match day there was against the strongest pursuer GÍ Gøta with a 1-1 loss on home ground, the first point loss, the return leg at GÍ was lost with 1: 3. However, GÍ Gøta conceded both the third and sixth matchday each 0-1 defeat against KÍ Klaksvík and EB Eiði , while HB Tórshavn only lost a point in the 1-1 draw against B36 Tórshavn . Before the last matchday, HB was one point ahead of GÍ and also had the significantly better goal difference. So a 2-2 win against B36 was enough to win the title, so that GÍ's 5-0 away win against SÍF Sandavágur remained meaningless.

Relegation battle

MB Miðvágur didn't get a single point in the course of the season and was consistently last place from the second match day. The relegation was already sealed after the 0: 4 away defeat on the eleventh matchday against GÍ Gøta.

ÍF Fuglafjørður was on a relegation rank from the third day of play and was only able to bring in the first points on the fifth day with a 2-0 home win against MB. The next victories followed on the ninth and tenth round against SÍF Sandavágur and B36 Tórshavn, but only after the 3-0 win on the twelfth matchday in the second leg against MB on succeeded in leaving the relegation zone.
